HARMONY FEST WEST coming!
July 10-13: Mark your calendars!
By Gaye LaCasce, International President
It's officially official - Harmony Fest West is happening July 10 - 13, in Tempe, Arizona, at the beautiful Omni at Arizona State University.
Why is this a big deal, you may ask? It has been more than 30 years since Area 6 was formed, and we haven't had any official Harmony events outside our six Areas since then. While we're not getting ahead of ourselves in predicting an Area 7, we have a wonderful opportunity to support our western choruses (California Note Catchers, On Q, and Vocal Moxie) as well as prospective choruses and Harmony members in the area.
Side note - Women in Harmony, we're hoping to head your way next!
Best of all, ensembles of all types (women, men, mixed, student) can participate in the festival while enjoying the unique culture of a Harmony contest. Groups can request a rating (which is consistent with festival scoring) or an actual score; women's and mixed (MBHA) quartets will be allowed to qualify for IC&C 2025 in Hershey if they attain a qualifying score! For me, this event will represent the best of all barbershop worlds, combined into one historic gathering.
Many people are working exceptionally hard to make this dream a reality - I thank them all! If you would like to participate in this newest chapter of Harmony's history, please mark your calendar. I, for one, can hardly wait!

Our members and friends are generous with time and money! Volunteers contribute to the organization in many ways from serving on the IBOD and Area Councils to covering a variety of positions during our conventions. We also receive financial donations in numerous ways. One way is to set up monthly donations. Amanda Cornaglia is a member who donates to Harmony, Inc. in both of these ways. Learn more about why she loves supporting our organization.
How did you discover Harmony, Inc., Amanda?
I met and sang with the ladies from Epic in 2012, but didn’t get involved until I started working with FloVoice in 2017 and partnered with HI for live streaming. I attended my first convention in Halifax in 2017 and immediately fell in love with the culture. I sang on stage with Bella Nova that Saturday night and joined at their very next rehearsal.
What stands out for you as your most memorable moment while you have been a member of Harmony, Inc.?
There are so many! I love getting invited to sing tags or eat or generally laugh at any conventions. I always love the theme nights at Area 3. Earning the silver medal with Bella Nova in 2023 came as a big surprise, but it was all of the fun and self-discovery that I hold most dear. Oh, and singing with Roulette at IC&C in 2024!
Please tell us why volunteering for Harmony, Inc. is important to you as well as the kinds of volunteer experiences you’ve had.
I love being a part of making Harmony, Inc. shine! My volunteer role is still relatively new, but when I saw the request for a video editor, I knew I had to step up. Jeanne O’Connor has done several coaching sessions for Bella Nova and Angel’s Envy and she inspired many of us in Bella to take on a role in the larger organization.
Why did you decide to make monthly reoccurring donations to Harmony, Inc.? Was it easy to set up?
Harmony, Inc., and the people in it bring me so much joy. In my day job as a therapist, I see so many adults struggling, in part because they don’t have a place to belong. I give because I am grateful that I have such a warm and welcoming place that encourages me to work hard and play hard. And yes – setting it up took only a few minutes!
What impact do you hope to see as a result of your donations?
I don’t have a lot of extra money to give, but I can afford a small donation each month in hopes that it grows into something meaningful. Whether it supports bringing in a young person or simply helps keep the lights on, I want to do my part to make sure this organization can operate with ease.
If you would like to donate to Harmony, Inc., please visit the DONATE page on the Harmony, Inc. website. Thank you! |
